Director

I was the first to hook in to reality AI

those first lessons in people who left me out of the world gave me no choice

what a gift for a young creative

suddenly the greatest boon

was a quiet room

but a diligent apprentice, I seeked to perfect

bored with life, bored of you, I made a game

like the lens of god affixed to a camera

the populated rooms of my life became scenes worth living

the indifferent faces became people worth knowing

the rough footage of the day spooling into stories worth hearing

everything is ephemeral

I play an actor from the director’s chair

is it you or me who keeps me there

Cricket

It’s a funny old game

men gleaming white on a green sea

elevate as heroes

It’s a game that rewards patient action

considered movements

a body in the now, a mind in the soon

Leaders emerge from anywhere in the lineup

it only takes one man a session to stand up to evil’s intrusion

you’re not getting through to me

Contra

Oh, we’ll keep fighting, I’m sure.

When Eve took that apple, she knew

that being static was a fate worse than evil.

To be for something, there must be an against;

to be a Trojan, there has to be an Achaean.

It won’t do to languish in discord—

to always think and say and never be—

no happiness lies in wait there.

A misstep will take you further than no step at all.

If you reach a great height, who cares if you fall?
